What fabric is right for me? One of the difficulties with shopping online is that you can't see the product 'up close and personal'. The descriptions below can assist you in selecting the fabric that best meets your own comfort, style and fitness needs. We want you to feel happy with your choice, so feel free to contact our customer service agents and they will be pleased to provide you with more information on our fabrics and colors. Our fabrics change regularly so that our clothing designs remain fresh, and to ensure that Ellswear stays on the edge of fashion trends. Other fabrics, including striped and patterned prints will be available soon, so check back to see what has changed, or sign up with the "EW Club" and we will automatically send you a note when new fabrics and designs come available! A note about fabric colors as shown on this site (and all Internet sites):
Color boxes (example shown above) are shown to approximate the actual fabric color as a guide to the customer, however colors will appear slightly different on each of your screens. Screen colors are dependent on such factors as the age and calibration of a computer screen, and each system's color settings.
All our cotton lycra has been pre-washed to ensure minimal shrinkage. It is machine washable. Machine drying is acceptable, but as with all cotton fabrics, we recommend hang drying as your colors will stay richer for longer. Our Cotton Lycra fabric is currently available in Black, Navy, Grey and Royal Blue.
Microfibre is a
grouping of light-weight, technical fabrics manufactured by a number of
companies under different brand names. One commonly-known microfibre
fabric is Supplex®. Ellswear currently uses a combination of Supplex®,
Extreme Stretch®, and P Microfibre fabric is machine washable, and should be hung to dry. It has no shrinkage and very minimal color fading over time with regular wear and washing.
All our cotton fleece is pre-washed to ensure minimal shrinkage. It is machine washable, and drier friendly. Currently our fleece is available in Black, White, Light Gray, and Navy. Watch for some new colors in our cotton fleece program--Sky Blue and Periwinkle are scheduled to come in our Spring line!
COOLBEST MESH® [Click your browser's 'Back Button' to return to previous page] Coolbest is a very technical fabric with superior moisture control qualities. Like Microfibre fabric (see above), Coolbest is ideal for any active sport where perspiration is a factor, making it ideal for short intense workouts or a marathon run. Coolbest draws moisture away from the skin, pulling to the exterior of the fabric for a quick dry result. The main differences between Coolbest Mesh and Microfibre fabric are: 1) its weave--Coolbest has a mesh weave, allowing for better air circulation through the fabric and therefore even better moisture control, and 2) its stretch factor--there is no lycra in Coolbest Mesh and as a result it only has a two-way stretch. Coolbest is machine washable and is drier friendly. Coolbest Mesh is currently available in Black, White and Light Navy colors.

Our
cotton lycra is 90% Cotton, 10% Lycra and is the highest quality
available. It has a soft, cottony and natural feel. It will always
have a four-way stretch with impressive 'kick-back'. Good kick-back means
you will not get any bagging in highly stressed areas like knees, elbows and
buttocks.

We
rotate between these technical fabrics based on availability and quality.
All have almost identical properties including a smooth feeling and matte finish.
All have moisture control qualities that are superior to cottons, wools and
other natural fabric materials. Moisture
is drawn away from your skin and pulled to the exterior of the fabric for a
quick dry result. As with cotton lycra, Microfibre fabrics have a
four-way stretch and good kick-back qualities. As a result you should not get
bagging at knees, elbows and buttocks.
Peri-Stripe
Fabric: This striped and ribbed microfibre fabric is a bright periwinkle color with a navy
stripe through it. This has been a very popular fabric, particularly as an
accent (such as borders, leg stripes, etc.).
Rugby
Stripe Fabric: This
striped microfibre fabric has forest green, white and navy blue stripes. As with the
Peri-Stripe Fabric above, the Rugby Stripe has been very popular with borders
and accents. 
Our
Cotton Fleece is 80% Cotton and 20% Polyester. The top layer of the fabric
is a tight knit and the bottom layer has a very warm, soft and fuzzy feel. We have found that having some
polyester content adds to the quality of our fleece. It helps to create a
minimal shrinkage, adds to the soft feel of garments, and ensures no pilling.
